Alright. This is my official first shot at Blogging. (Thanks Megs!) I thought this would be a fun way to introduce friends to the world of Lor Mandela. Thus far, the fun has felt a little more like aggravation at my own computing ineptitude.

For those of you who don't know, Lor Mandela is the title of my new urban fantasy novel. It is the story of Maggie Baker, a teenager from the small town of Glenhill, Iowa who wishes for more excitement than her insignificant Midwestern existence can offer. Little does she know that excitement is about to find her in a big way.

On the distant world of Lor Mandela, a selfish heiress has attempted to steal powers that she can't control, and has corrupted the planet's soul, thereby sentencing Lor Mandela and its inhabitants to a torturous death. Only one can save it--a small child named Audril Borloc. But when, shortly after her fourth birthday, Audril and her father disappear without a trace, all hope seems lost for this dying world.

A group of Lor Mandelan spies travel to Earth, hoping to find the missing child with cobalt eyes and black hair--traits that, on Lor Mandela, are exclusive to the ruling Borloc family-- but instead, they find Maggie. While she is obviously older than Audril, she has the Borloc family traits, evidence enough for the desperate spies.

Suddenly, Maggie finds herself bouncing back and forth between Glenhill and the strange and diverse lands of Lor Mandela, where she must determine who she can trust, and who she should fear. Is the head-strong servant from Mandela Palace really trying to help? Is the leader of the lawless clan of Shadow Dwellers plotting to fight for Mandela City or planning to offer Maggie up to the highest bidder? Is the ruler of a magical race known as the Trystas a friend or a formidable and terrifying foe?

Wanna know more? Keep an eye out . . . Bits and pieces to follow later!
