Book Question of the Week

Hi Everyone,

I'm even later with the question this week! (Grrr!) I really need to put an alert in my phone or something!

Anyway, here goes:

It's not uncommon for a movie to be based on a book. What stories have you both read and seen as a movie? Which did you like better; the book or the flick? Enqiring minds want to know...

Leave your answers below!!!

  1. Here's my list where the books are always better, of course:

    Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
The Lost World by Michael Crichton
Enjoyed the movies, but the books were a bit different and much better.
    Disclosure by Michael Crichton

    Dreamcatcher by Stephen King
Needful Things by Stephen King (book was MUCH better, particularly the ending).
Pet Semetery by Stephen King (book was much creepier).
It by Stephen King (much better than the movie)

The Chronicles of Narnia (So far, the books and movies are pretty equal for me on this one).

  2. The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan. I preferred the ending of the movie, actually. Tighter, makes me bawl like a baby, though Amy Tan's storytelling and writing style are not to be missed.

  3. Oh! And The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco. The movie was creepy-weird, summarized, and had a Hollywood ending. So I preferred the book there, even if it does get a bit heavy on medieval history.

  9. Chocolat, novel by Joanne Harris. Normally, I like books better than movies based on them, but in this case I enjoyed them both. I love Joanne Harris's novels. The movie was well-made, the changes from the book were acceptable in my opinion. Lasse Halström is a great director and the fact that Jonny Depp, Juliette Binoche and Judi Dench were in it made it all the more enjoyable.
